Integrate an SMS messaging provider with Fresh Relevance

Set up an SMS service provider channel for your Fresh Relevance account.

Fresh Relevance can integrate with a variety of SMS messaging channel providers. Once a messaging provider is setup, you can start utilizing data and features from your provider account in Fresh Relevance.


Before you start

Things you need to know:


Messaging channel setup

To connect a messaging channel to your Fresh Relevance account you need to get certain credentials and IDs from the provider account and enter them in to your Fresh Relevance account. The details needed for each messaging provider setup can vary, but most of them require some combination of:

  • The provider account’s username.

  • The provider account’s password.

  • The provider account’s API key.

Required credentials

If you are unsure what credentials or details are needed from your messaging channel provider, you can find out in Fresh Relevance by creating a messaging channel, then select the information tooltips (?) next to each item during the settings configuration. Learn more in Configure the messaging channel.


1. Access messaging channel settings

To access the ESP messaging channel area in Fresh Relevance, expand the User menu, then go to Settings > Triggers and Messaging integrations > Messaging Provider(s).

On this page you can view all the messaging channels that are currently set up, create and delete messaging channels, set the default messaging channel for triggered messaging, and edit field mappings.


2. Create a new messaging channel

  1. At the bottom of the page, expand the Messaging provider drop-down menu, and select the messaging channel provider you want to set up.

  2. Select NEXT.


3. Configure the messaging channel

This part of the messaging channel setup requires you to enter your messaging channel’s credentials and configure the settings.

Select the information tooltips (?) next to each item during the settings configuration to learn more about what the setting is.

If you are unsure about where credentials or details from your messaging provider are located in the provider account, we advise searching for help resources on your provider’s website or contacting their support team.

Set the default messaging channel

After creating your messaging channel and saving it, you can set it as the default messaging channel on the Messaging Channels page.


4. Set up triggered messages

5. Send a test message

To check that Fresh Relevance is working correctly with the messaging channel after setup, you should send a test message:

Test an SMS channel

  1. Go to Content > Cart Layout.

  2. Find the Default Cart Layout and select VIEW.

  3. Find the Send Test Message section, expand the drop-down menu and choose the trigger that you want to test.

  4. For Mobile, enter your mobile number.

    • Make sure to use E.164 format, for example, +447778889999 for UK or +12345234523 for USA.

  5. Select Send Test Message(s).

    • A pop-up message at the top of the screen appears, stating that a test message is queued and should arrive in a few minutes.

  6. Select View Send History to view the Person History for your mobile number.

  7. Select the Actions menu to expand them and see more detail.
