Understand triggers

Triggers are actions that you define in Fresh Relevance to allow you to create messaging tailored to visitor data and behavior.

Updated yesterday

For every page on your site that a shopper visits, a signal can be generated with important information about that page visit. For example, a cart signal is generated when a shopper visits the cart page.

In Fresh Relevance, you can create a Trigger which prompts an action that you define in response to that signal, such as a cart abandon recovery message.

You can create multiple triggers so that all your different types of visitors receive personalized and relevant messages.

Default triggers

Every Fresh Relevance account is created with three default triggers already in place:

  • Cart abandonment

  • Browse abandonment

  • Purchase complete

We also create default Trigger programs for you for each of these triggers.

Custom triggers

In addition to the three default triggers, you can create additional triggers to cater for a range of other visitor behaviors and actions.

To do this:

  1. From the left side menu, go to Triggers.

  2. Select CREATE TRIGGER TYPE.

There are four options to choose from:

    • Price drop via new segment
For visitors who have browsed products that have decreased in price.

    • Back in stock via new segment
For visitors who have browsed products have been restocked.

    • Low stock via new segment
For visitors who have browsed products that have a stock level lower than a number you define.

    • Custom trigger
For a custom signal raised by a Data capture SmartBlock or your site script.

  3. Select the trigger type you want to create, then select CONTINUE.

Trigger rules

You can add rules to triggers to specify the messaging a visitor receives based on a variety of behavioral and personal criteria.

The messaging for each rule you define is controlled by a trigger program. A single trigger can therefore be linked to multiple trigger programs.
