Why updated cart layout emails may look unchanged

Learn why your cart layout emails might appear the same after changes, and learn how to see updates.

Updated this week

Cart layout HTML content is generated when an email trigger runs or when you use the Fresh Relevance test send. If you send directly from your messaging provider, you may see older HTML that doesn’t reflect recent cart changes.

Why the email can look the same

Depending on your messaging provider setup:

  • Profile field method – Cart HTML, for example, cart_html, is loaded into a profile field in your messaging provider when generated.

  • URL merge method – Cart HTML is requested at send time from a Fresh Relevance‑generated URL and merged into the email body.

In both cases, HTML is generated or cached only when:

  • A trigger in Fresh Relevance sends an email.

  • You use the Test send feature in Fresh Relevance.

If you run Test send from your messaging provider only:

  • The provider uses existing stored or cached HTML.

  • Recent cart layout edits do not appear in the send.

How to see your changes

To ensure your email uses the latest cart layout:

  1. In Fresh Relevance, go to Triggers.

  2. Use the Test send option from Fresh Relevance, not from your messaging provider.

  3. Or, trigger a live email send through Fresh Relevance.

This forces Fresh Relevance to regenerate and send updated cart HTML to your messaging provider.

Tip
If changes still don’t appear, check that your trigger is linked to the correct cart layout in Content > Cart Layout.
