Integrate Adobe Campaign Standard with Fresh Relevance

Learn to integrate Adobe Campaign Standard with Fresh Relevance.

Updated over a month ago

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • You must have:

    • A Fresh Relevance account.

    • An Adobe Campaign Standard account.

    • Contact details for your Adobe Campaign Standard System Administrator.

Create an Adobe IO project on the Adobe IO console

Only System Administrators have the right to manage projects.

  1. In Adobe IO, go to Create new project.

  2. To name your project, select Edit project, enter a name and description, and then select Save.

  3. Select Add API.

  4. Select the Experience Cloud tab and select Adobe Campaign.

  5. Select the first option to generate a new Public/Private key pair, and select Next.

  6. This downloads a zip file named config. Save and open this file on your computer. You find two files.

  7. Open the private.key file and keep it open, as it is required for your ESP setup. Copy this key, including the header and footer. Once you have the Private Key, select Next.

  8. Select the Product Profiles this API should have access to. Choose the desired profiles and select Save configured API.
If you need help with Product Profiles, refer to the Adobe documentation or contact your Adobe administrator.

  9. On the control panel for your Adobe Campaign API integration, note down the:

    • Client ID

    • Client Secret

    • Technical Account ID

    • Technical Account Email

    • Organization ID

These are needed for setting up your Adobe Campaign Standard ESP channel within Fresh Relevance.

  10. To obtain the final two credentials — organization URL and organization — go to the URL used to access Adobe Campaign, for example, http://[my org].campaign.adobe.com).

  11. Note down the first part of the URL, as it represents your organization and tenant URL, if not on a staging instance.
If using Fresh Relevance with a staging server with a URL like https://[my org]-mkt-stage1.campaign.adobe.com, the tenant URL is the full first section of the URL — [my org]-mkt-stage1 — while the organization remains unchanged.

Set up Profile fields and custom resources

When integrating Fresh Relevance with Adobe Campaign Standard, you can extend the existing Profile resource or create a new resource linked to a customer's profile to store contact data.

You can use any combination of upload locations, such as uploading all contact information to the Profile resource while loading cart data to a linked table.

The ID you assign to a custom field in Adobe Campaign should match the ID used in your merge variables within Fresh Relevance.

To learn more, use the following Adobe Guides:

Set up events and transactional messages

  1. Log in to Adobe Campaign.

  2. Select the Adobe Campaign logo in the top left corner, then select Marketing Plans.

  3. Select Transactional Messages and then Event Configuration.

  4. Select Create.

  5. In the configuration form, enter your event information, including a label and a unique ID (max. 64 characters). The targeting dimension should be Real-time event.

  6. Select Create.

Once you've created the event:

  1. Note the event ID in brackets. You need this for the ESP channel setup later.

  2. Select the event you created to access the event configuration screen, then select Add field.

  3. Enter the form details to create a new field. Use the same ID when setting up your merge variables within Fresh Relevance.

  4. Expand the Event configuration drop-down menu, and select Transactional Messages.

  5. Select Transactional Messages again and choose the event you just created.

  6. Select anywhere in the content panel to access the WYSIWYG editor.

  7. Choose a block type to insert from the Content Components tab. For example, an HTML block for cart HTML.

  8. Hover over the content block and select the personalization icon.

Finally, insert the desired field into the template block:

  1. Browse the personalization fields list and find the Event context (ctx) entry.

  2. Open it and select the field you want to insert into the template block.

Complete the ESP field mapping form for Fresh Relevance

  1. Enter details into the Field Mapping form by specifying how Fresh Relevance fields correspond to the email merge codes used in Adobe Campaign emails.

  2. For additional help, refer to the guidance at the bottom of the Field Mapping form.

  3. Ensure that the data fields in the Fresh Relevance field mapping match the field names in the merge codes within your events, as Adobe strictly enforces this requirement.

Create triggers in Fresh Relevance

Learn to create Fresh Relevance trigger programs in Set up a trigger program.

Send a test email or SMS

To ensure Fresh Relevance is working correctly after setup, follow these steps to send a test message:

  1. Go to Content > Cart Layout and select Default Cart Layout.

  2. Under the heading Send Test Message, expand the drop-down menu and select the message you want to test.

  3. Enter an email address or phone number to send the test email to.

  4. Select Send Test Message(s), and a popup message appears at the top of the screen, confirming that a test was sent.

The test email or SMS is delivered to the specified email address or phone number.
