Before you start
Things you need to know:
You must have a:
Mailchimp Transactional Email (Mandrill) account
Mailchimp account
Fresh Relevance account
Set up your lists in Mailchimp
This step is optional if you're using triggers, but it is mandatory for exporting segments to MailChimp.
In Mailchimp, go to Audience > Audience dashboard.
Select an existing Audience or create a new one.
To do this, expand the Manage Audience drop-down menu
Select View audiences, then Create Audience.
Enter a name such as Fresh Relevance triggered emails or Fresh Relevance segment.
To get your Audience ID, select Settings, then Audience name and campaign defaults.
Under the Audience ID section, make a note of the ID shown.
Choose Mailchimp in Fresh Relevance
In Fresh Relevance, expand the User menu, then go to Settings > Triggers and Messaging integrations > Messaging Provider(s).
Expand the Service providers drop-down menu, and select Mailchimp (using Mandrill)
Select Next.
Create a Mailchimp API key
If you want to check whether a contact is subscribed to a marketing list before sending a triggered email, or if you want to export a segment directly to a Mailchimp audience.
Go to User > Profile > Extras > API Keys.
Select Create A Key.
Copy the newly created API key entry from the list and paste it into the Mailchimp API Key field in Fresh Relevance.
Create a Mailchimp Transactional Email (Mandrill) API key
Go to User > Profile > Extras > API Keys.
Select Create A Mandrill API Key.
Sign in to your Mandrill account.
Select New API Key to open a small form.
Fill out a key description and leave the API Key restrictions unchecked.
Copy and paste the Key field into the Mandrill API Key field in Fresh Relevance.
Create a default Mailchimp Transactional Email (Mandrill) email template
Log in to Mandrill and go to Outbound > Templates.
Select Create a Template and set up your template.
Find the Template Slug field in the Template Info section.
Copy the value and enter it in the Default Mandrill Email Template field in Fresh Relevance.
Set the from address
Enter your preferred email address. This will be listed as the from address for your abandonment emails.
To find this, in Mailchimp, go to Settings > Sending Domains
Set your field mappings
This is required if you’re sending contact data other than email addresses to MailChimp using an add-to-list Trigger or exporting a segment from FR, or when sending an email via Mandrill.
In Fresh Relevance, you must have a field mapping for each Mailchimp or Mailchimp transactional email field used. To set your field mappings:
Expand the User menu and go to Settings > Triggers and Messaging integrations > Messaging Provider(s), then select the field mappings link by the appropriate messaging channel.
Access Mailchimp field settings
In Mailchimp, go to Audience > Audience Dashboard > Manage Audience > Settings > Audience fields and |MERGE| tags for your chosen list. Note that you should use the Mailchimp field names from the merge tag (e.g., FNAME, not First Name; LNAME, not Last Name).
Map fields in Mailchimp
For each field you want to map in Fresh Relevance:
In Mailchimp, select Add A Field.
Choose a field type and fill out the field label and tag name.
Use the tag name for the Fresh Relevance fieldname mappings.
Set up Abandonment trigger
Learn to create a trigger program in Set up Trigger programs.
To ensure that your cart abandonment emails are sent out at the right time, you need to set up the waiting time before sending them. Additionally, you have the option to enter a specific email ID number from Mailchimp in the Send Email field. If you don't enter an ID number, the email will be sent to the address specified in the general settings by default.
To find a specific email ID, go to Mailchimp Transactional Email (Mandrill) > Outbound > Templates. Select the template, then Template Slug.
Send a test email or SMS
To ensure Fresh Relevance is working correctly after setup, follow these steps to send a test email:
Go to Content > Cart Layout and select the appropriate Cart Layout.
On the Cart Layout preview, under the heading Send Test Message, expand the drop-down menu and select the email you want to test.
Enter an email address or phone number to send the test email to.
Select Send Test Message(s), and a popup message will appear at the top of the screen, confirming that a test email was sent.
The test email or SMS is delivered to the specified email address or phone number.
