Triggered messages, such as order confirmations or shipping notifications, are typically transactional in nature. This means they are often exempt from unsubscribe link requirements because they are essential communications related to a customer's transaction. However, adding an unsubscribe link can enhance customer experience and ensure compliance with various regulations. You can add an unsubscribe link using either of these methods.
Add an unsubscribe link in your messaging provider
Some messaging providers honor send permissions through the API integration. If a customer has previously unsubscribed, no emails are sent to them. In this case, use your messaging provider's standard unsubscribe link in your email campaigns. Check with our Support team to determine if your messaging provider supports this feature.
Add an unsubscribe link with Fresh Relevance
If your messaging provider doesn't recognize previous unsubscribe information, or you use a separate messaging provider for transactional emails, you can create an unsubscribe link using our system:
Expand the User menu and go to Settings > Triggers and Messaging integrations.
Select Unsubscribe Link.
Enter a redirect page (for example, a confirmation page) for after the unsubscribe request is processed.
Select GO.
The link should include the code for your selected messaging provider to merge the customer's email address. If not, replace [email] with the appropriate merge code. Selecting this link sets a flag on the person's record to prevent further emails from being sent by us. This doesn't update the settings in your messaging provider.
