Once you have created a Slot, and added your desired SmartBlock to it, the next step is to add the Slot to your desired location - either included in your emails, or displayed on your website.
Add a Slot to email
Go to Content > Slots.
Select the Slot you want to use, then select the Use icon.
There are a number of options for including a Slot in an email campaign.
The options available vary depending on the messaging provider you have configured.
Select the appropriate tab for the method you want to use:
Email - Open Time
When the customer opens the email, we then dynamically generate the content to reflect the most recent data.Select the radio button for the identifier you want to use for your recipients, either Email or Customer ID.
Check the merge values under Edit ESP merge values to ensure that they are correctly assigned. If you make any changes, select Update.
Select Copy to Clipboard, then paste the code into the email template in your ESP.
Email - Send Time
This option is not available for all ESPs.
When a campaign is sent, the personalized content is fetched and merged into the email. This option has the advantage that all the personalized content is included in the email as HTML. This can be better for deliverability, and can make it easier to generate mobile-friendly emails.Copy the HTML code.
Paste it into the relevant area of the email template in your ESP.
Publish to ESP
This option is only available when using Dotdigital as your email messaging provider. You must have AccountInsight enabled on your Dotdigital account. Contact your Customer Success representative to discuss.
You can make your Slots available as App blocks in Dotdigital’s EasyEditor so that you can drag-and-drop them directly into an email campaign.
The personalized content you have set up in-app is generated dynamically when a recipient opens the email.
To use the Slot in Dotdigital’s EasyEditor, select PUSH TO DOTDIGITAL.

Add a Slot to your website using Slot code
Before you start
You'll most likely need the support of your Web Developers to use this method.
Go to Content > Slots.
Select the Slot you want to use, then select the Use icon.
On the Web Personalization tab, under Add the Slot manually, copy the relevant code you want to use.
If you need to pass in merge values, your developers must add in the values to the code before deploying to your site.
