Why catch-all emails might appear identical

Why emails sent to a catch-all address might appear identical.

Updated over a year ago

When you set up your account to send triggers to a catch-all address, the system constructs an email as it would for the customer, including the products in their cart.

The cart contents are either uploaded to a field in the Email Service Provider (ESP) system or pulled from a URL when sending and built into the email as it's being processed.

Although we trigger emails in real-time, most ESPs don't send them out immediately. Instead, they wait a few minutes and batch up the requests. This can cause issues when using a catch-all address for all the emails because the cart may have been updated several times since the first email was triggered. As a result, the same cart HTML is used when constructing the emails, either from the field or the URL.

Sending to customers

This does not affect live sending to customers, as their information is merged based on their own separate email addresses.
