Visitor details

The Visitors area is where you can find all the information about the visitors to your website.

Updated over 10 months ago

To access the Visitors area, go to Data > Visitors.

The initial dashboard has two tabs:

  • Live sessions that are currently in progress.

  • Finished sessions that have completed.
These can take a few minutes to display in Fresh Relevance.

You can filter live and finished sessions to find sessions of interest, for example, identified visitors.

You can also search for a particular visitor using the search field in the top right. Enter the entire email, mobile number or ID for the visitor you want to view. You can select any session row to get more details about that visitor. The details shown are all data we hold on that visitor, across all of their recorded sessions.

Information and settings available for individual visitors

General information and permission settings

When you select an individual visitor record, the left side panel shows general information about them, such as their email address, mobile phone number, location, and their current permission state.

You can adjust the permission settings to prevent the visitor being sent emails and/or SMS. To do this, expand the Permissions section, and use the drop-down menus to set the relevant permission levels.

Permission fields may have No value for visitors. In this case, whether the system is able to send to them is dictated by you Trigger settings page, where you can determine how ‘no value’ should be treated within your account. Sending from the system may not always result in an actual send, as unsubscribes or other permissions are often also managed through your Messaging Provider.

For GDPR purposes, or for visitors that request no data processing for other reasons, there is an option to disable all data processing for a visitor. Use the Do not Process (GDPR) option to hide all personal data collected to date, stop any further messages being sent, stop any personalization through the system, and to prevent any future data being collected on that visitor. Once selected, you can Show Personal Data if you need to review who the person was or re-enable data collection if necessary.

Below the general information and permissions are expandable sections for Extend Info, Loyalty Info, Control Groups and Experiences. Here you can view what this visitor has been assigned to and adjust for some settings, for example, remove or add the visitor to specific control groups, which can be useful if it is a test user and you want to view the website/email for each group.

Analytics

The analytics tab gives you a summarized view of that visitor's history for the last 30 purchases or browses. You can see total order value, average order value, abandoned order value and products browsed value as well as the visitor’s top products purchased and browsed.

Audit Log

The Audit Log tab displays information for every session the visitor has had, and other key information about the visitor’s history, such as a system user changing their permissions.

Select a session to see further information about the it. The filter at the top of the page can be used to find sessions containing relevant items, such as:

  • An Event - Page view from website. Received on any page of your site.

  • A Signal - Signal generated from certain actions, for example, product browse, cart visit, purchase, custom signal.

  • An Action - Trigger action such as email send or list upload.

  • A Trace - Trace is the collected additional data about a visitor, for example, for diagnostic or testing purposes.
Due to the size of the data, Trace is only stored for 14 days.

Devices

The Devices tab displays all the devices that we have recognised this visitor on, along with some basic information such as time stamp for the relevant session, browser data, and operating system information, where possible.

Location

The Location tab displays all the locations that we have collected for this visitor.

If the locations have been collected using an IP address, they may be unreliable. For more accurate locations, it is better to import known locations for visitors. Learn more in Import person data.
